OUR MINISTER DERYA YANIK INAUGURATED 4 NEW SOCIAL SERVICE CENTERS IN ADANA

Derya Yanık, our Minister of Family and Social Services, stated that Social Service Centers are very important service units that coordinate the main service titles of the Ministry such as children, women, disabled, elderly people, and added: "We aim to increase the number of social service centers we have opened throughout our country since 2013, including 17 in 2022, to 400 at the end of 2022 and to 410 in 2023."

“We Opened 16 Social Service Centers”

Minister Yanık explained that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has implemented new projects one by one, which are shaped according to different needs in order to facilitate citizens' access to services with his vision of "Let people live so that the state can live" and his strong leadership.

Stating that the Project on Increase Accessibility of the  Social Services (SOHEP), which aims to increase the access of Turkish citizens to social services and people with the status of International Protection and Temporary Protection within the scope of the "Financial Assistance for Refugees in Turkey" in cooperation with the European Union Delegation, is an example of this vision and leadership, Yanık gave information about their work within the scope of this project.

Yanık emphasized that within the scope of this project, which aims to increase access to social services, they have opened social service centers for protected individuals as well as children, women, disabled and elderly people to access qualified services.

Stating that they opened a total of 16 social service centers in Hatay, İzmir, Mersin, Antalya, Adana, Balıkesir, Düzce, İstanbul, Kırıkkale, Osmaniye and Aydın, Yanık continued his words as follows:

“Today, we will open our 4 Social Service Centers, 1 in Adana Sarıçam, 3 in Hatay Defne, Arsuz and Samandağ, within the scope of SOHEP. In these centers, we will hopefully remove the obstacles to the access of our citizens to social services by individuals with international and temporary protection status. In order to achieve our goals, our project team continues to work diligently and with determination. With every development in the project, we continue to offer new services to our citizens and also to individuals under international and temporary protection.

Social Service Centers are units where applications made within the framework of the legislation of our ministry for children, young people, women, men, disabled, elderly, martyr relatives and veterans and their families are evaluated, necessary examinations are carried out and appropriate service models are applied. In fact, Social Service Centers are very important service units of our ministry that direct and coordinate the main service titles such as children, women, disabled and elderly people.

With these units, we ensure that protective, preventive, educational, developing, supportive, guidance and rehabilitative social service activities are carried out in order to reduce the differentiation in lifestyles, to cope with the problems caused by rapid social change, urbanization and migration, and to make individuals participatory, productive and self-sufficient.

“We have not left any of our citizens in need alone”

Stating that there are 6 social service centers in Adana, Yanık said: "We aim to increase the number of social service centers we have opened throughout our country since 2013, 17 of which are in 2022, to 400 at the end of 2022 and to 410 in 2023. With what we have opened today, we will have achieved the 2022 target. "

Minister Yanık stated that the Family Social Support Program (ASDEP) is one of the service titles that they have just launched as a result of the transformation to a supply-oriented service.

Explaining that social service centers are also studies that go to the feet of the citizen and ask what they need and determine the service models according to the need, Yanık said:

“Indeed, this is the work of 84 million citizens of the Republic of Turkey, especially when you look at the studies we have done during the pandemic period and its comparison with the world. We should all be proud of the result we've produced. Thank God we didn't leave any of our citizens in need. Regarding the elderly, there are occasional distortions from the opposition. They're not gonna like it because they don't like it, but I'm gonna keep saying it.

In those countries that we call very developed in the world, the mortality rates of the elderly in nursing homes during the pandemic period varied between 31 and 82 percent. The rate of elderly death due to covid due to the pandemic in our nursing homes 4.4. This is a result produced by our friends who do not leave those care centers for days as if the caregivers looked after their own parents. Therefore, today, Turkey has reached a very important level in the world in terms of social services. It has exceeded a very important threshold and we are all proud of it. "

“We have provided psychosocial support services to 1045 people in Adana so far”

Stating that 5.2 million households have been reached with ASDEP personnel since 2017, Yanık stated that 113 thousand 953 households have been visited with 111 professional staff in Adana in the period of November 2017-2022.

Emphasizing that there are education sets consisting of 5 fields and 28 modules, including family education and communication, law, economics, media and health, Yanık said that they have reached 3 million 200 thousand people since 2013. Minister Yanık emphasized that the family is at the center of every service they provide and made the following assessment:

“At the center of all studies, we are based on the protection of the happy, prosperous, supportive and protective structure of the family. Therefore, we start to support our disabled, children and elderly people in their own family environment if possible. If not, then our other social work models follow. The longer we keep our families a safe haven, the stronger, healthier, happier we will prepare our children for the future. That's why we exist, why this ministry exists. That's why we care so much about these works. "

Stating that they provide psychosocial support services in disaster and emergencies, Yanık stated that 1045 people have been provided with psychosocial support services in Adana so far.

Yanık also gave information about their services in Adana and stated that they continued their work with a rights-based inclusiveness with the understanding of "human first" within the framework of the "Turkey Century Vision" declared by President Erdoğan. Following the speeches, social service centers in Sarıçam district of Adana and Defne, Samandağ and Arsuz districts of Hatay were opened with live connections. Minister Yanık then went to the center in Sarıçam and examined.
